Whitecaps and Chiefs Postponed

West Michigan Whitecaps

PEORIA, IL – For the third time in the past week, the West Michigan Whitecaps have had a ballgame postponed – this time, their series opener against the Peoria Chiefs has been pushed to Wednesday due to inclement weather at Dozer Park.

Heavy thunderstorms during the late afternoon proved to be too much for the Peoria playing surface, leading to the postponement. Last week, the Whitecaps and Dayton Dragons fell victim to a pair of rainouts, as well as a two-hour rain delay before a doubleheader last Friday.

The postponement marks the fifth time this season that the Whitecaps have not played on an intended gameday. Thursday’s game is scheduled to be made up in a Thursday doubleheader beginning at 6:00 pm. Both games will last seven innings in duration, with a 30-minute break in-between contests. Thursday will become the third doubleheader for West Michigan this season, with the ‘Caps having fallen in a sweep on May 22 in Wisconsin before sweeping Dayton in two games in a doubleheader that originated on June 25 but didn’t finish until June 27.
