Tigers rookie left-hander Tarik Skubal put his best foot forward in a matchup with Shohei Ohtani, but it wasn’t quite enough. The Angels sensational right-hander struck out 8 in 8 innings, adding a late-inning 430-foot home run – his 40th of the season. Skubal struck out 7 in 6 2/3 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Miguel Cabrera came oh-so-close to his 500th home run, launching an opposite field fly to the warning track in the 9th inning.
