COMSTOCK PARK, MI – One big swing and some help from mother nature forced the game to stop in the top of the sixth inning as the Lake County Captains took a 5-2 lead over the West Michigan Whitecaps Saturday night at LMCU Ballpark.

The Captains compiled six extra-base hits, including a three-run home run from Connor Kokx – which became the go-ahead swing, as rain halted the game in the top of the sixth.

West Michigan struck in the first inning as Jake Holton pounded a solo home run off the old school scoreboard, taking the 1-0 advantage. Lake County responded in the second, as Aaron Bracho smoked an RBI double to level the game at 1-1. Austin Murr pushed the ‘Caps back in front in the following inning, plating Carlos Irigoyen on a single to capture the 2-1 lead. Korey Holland roped an RBI triple to level the game in the fifth inning, 2-2. In the top of the sixth, Connor Kokx blasted a three-run home run with two outs before rain and lightning forced the game to be halted.

The completion of the suspended game will begin tomorrow at 1 pm before a full nine-inning contest to finish the series 30 minutes after the conclusion of the resumption.
