Bligh Madris never played a game for the Detroit Tigers.
On Tuesday, the Tigers traded Madris to the Houston Astros in exchange for cash considerations. The 26-year-old outfielder played 39 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season, the only MLB action in his career.
The Tigers’ 40-man roster remains full.

The Tigers claimed Madris off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on Nov. 18. He was designated for assignment Dec. 21 when the Tigers claimed catcher Mario Feliciano off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers.
Last season, Madris hit .177 with one home run, 10 walks and 31 strikeouts for the Pirates. He received 17 starts in right field, eight starts at first base and four starts in left. He also spent two innings in center.
The Rays claimed Madris off waivers from the Pirates in September.

He played 13 games for Sultanes de Monterrey in the Mexican Pacific Winter League this offseason, hitting .216 with five walks and 12 strikeouts. He stopped played due to general fatigue.
On New Year’s Eve, the Tigers acquired infielder Tyler Nevin from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for cash considerations. He has a .205 batting average in 64 MLB games across parts of two seasons.
