Erie got on the board first against Bowie starter Chayce McDermott. In the first inning. Colt Keith had a double and Wenceel Perez followed with an infield single. Dillon Dingler was robbed of a single on Cesar Prieto’s diving stop, but his sharp grounder wound up an RBI fielder’s choice.

Bowie flipped the lead shortly after against Erie starter Brant Hurter. With two out, Zach Watson reached on a catcher’s interference. Maverick Handley followed with a two-run homer to give the Baysox the lead.

The score remained 2-1 until the fifth. Leading off, TT Bowens hit a fly ball towards the right-field line. Andrew Navigato overran the ball, allowing it to drop in fair terrority and bounce into the Bowie bullpen. On the error, Bowens came all the way around to score. Later in the inning, Cesar Prieto hit a two-run single, ending Hurter’s day at 4.1 innings. Hurter (2-2) took the loss.

McDermott (4-4) earned the win for Bowie, allowing just a run on three hits with seven strikeouts.

The Baysox plated four more in the sixth against the Erie bullpen. Against Michael Bienlien, Billy Cook drove an RBI double after two had walked. Joseph Rosa later scored him with a sacrifice fly. Then Prieto struck again by smashing a two-run double to give him four RBI in the game and make it 9-1.

The SeaWolves got two runs back in their half of the seventh when Luis Santana plated a pair of earlier walks on a long single off the left-field fence.

Blake Holub was impressive in his Double-A debut for Erie. He struck out all three batters he faced swinging in the eighth inning.

Andrew Navigato’s solo home run in the ninth inning got the SeaWolves a hair closer.

Erie will look to rebound with Keider Montero on the mound on Wednesday opposed by Carlos Tavera. First pitch is 6:05 p.m.
