Watch Miguel Cabrera’s first home run of the 2023 season, a 400-foot blast to left field

Miguel Cabrera officially has his first home run of the 2023 season.

Facing one of the best pitchers in baseball in Spencer Strider, the Detroit Tigers came out of the gates absolutely swinging in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against Atlanta at Comerica Park.

After first baseman Spencer Torkelson took Strider deep in the first, Cabrera joined the fun by turning on an inside pitch and blasting it over the bullpen in left field, flying 406 feet. It was a long time coming, but an absolutely vintage Cabrera home run.

Cabrera was clearly fired up as he made his way through the Tigers dugout and for the first time, got to put on the Red Wings helmet that the Tigers sport every time there’s a homer.

It was Cabrera’s 508th career home run, putting him within one of former Tiger Gary Sheffield. Cabrera is 27th in the all-time home runs list.

The next batter also took Strider deep, with catcher Eric Haase capitalizing on the momentum and blasting another 400-foot home run, the third one of the day for the Tigers.
