On Tuesday, MLB announced that 2024 Spring Training will officially begin on Thursday, Feb. 22, as the Dodgers and Padres will face off in a Cactus League showdown less than a month before the same two teams kick off the regular season in South Korea. After a few more teams open Spring Training action the following day, all 30 Major League clubs will play in Cactus and Grapefruit League games on Saturday, Feb. 24.
While the Dodgers and Padres will play in the aforementioned Seoul Series, that won’t be MLB’s first international trip of the 2024 calendar year. From March 9-10, the Red Sox and Rays will face off in Grapefruit League action in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This will be the first MLB action in the D.R. since March 2020, when the Tigers and Twins played an exhibition game in Santo Domingo.
A number of exhibition games at Major League ballparks will be played from Sunday, March 24, through Tuesday, March 26. The 2024 regular season will begin with all 30 clubs playing on Thursday, March 28, featuring six divisional matchups and one Interleague contest (Cubs-Rangers) among the 15 games.
