In the fourth, Erie tacked on. After Wolf issued a one-out walk and hit Chris Meyers with a pitch, Julio Rodriguez deposited a three-run home run into the bleachers in left field. It extended Erie’s lead to 4-0.
Brant Hurter started for Erie and completed four scoreless innings. He struck out four and allowed four hits and two walks.
Tim Naughton replaced him and tossed a scoreless fifth. Altoona scored its lone run with two out in the sixth on Jacob Gonzalez’s two-out, RBI single.
After the sixth, Erie and Altoona entered a 29-minute rain delay before the game was called.
Naughton (4-2) earned the win. Wolf (0-1) took the loss.
The series concludes on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. as Lael Lockhart opposes Anthony Solometo.
