Game notes: The Tigers are eight games back of the Twins for the American League Central division lead, and can make up some ground quickly in this two-game series in Minnesota. The Tigers won three of four vs. the Twins in Detroit last week, including the final three games by scores of 6-0, 9-3 and 3-0. But they then lost two of three at Boston. The Tigers are a surprising 7-3 vs. the Twins this season, clinching the 13-game season series victory.
The Tigers move on to Cleveland beginning Thursday for a four-game series. The Guardians are 4½ games behind the Twins in the division. The Twins this weekend will host Pittsburgh for three games.
