After a few days to process the Tigers’ Game 5 loss to the Guardians in the ALDS, it’s time to get back to work on our end.
That run from early August to the ALDS was as fun a time as we’ve had with the Detroit Tigers in many a year, and the shocking stretch run with a very young team doing everything for the first time and doing it right was like something out of a movie. We may not see anything quite like it again.
However, it’s certainly easy to feel like such a wild run won’t be so necessary going forward. The organization is in a very good place both in terms of the major league roster and the farm system and is primed for success for years to come. So while we wait for the offseason and the front office’s work to reinforce the roster, let’s get a league championship series discussion thread going.
The Yankees have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over the Guardians. Aaron Judge has woken up, and that bodes ill for the Clevelanders. Still, a lot can change over a longer series.
Meanwhile in the National League, the Fighting Ohtanis, er the Los Angeles Dodgers, pummeled New York Mets pitching in Game 3 on Wednesday night to take a 2-1 series lead.
No doubt Commissioner Rob Manfred is downright giddy — ok maybe he’s not a guy who gets “giddy” exactly — at the prospect of a Dodgers-Yankees World Series. We’ll see if one of the underdogs can upset those plans.
As for the Tigers, well Tarik Skubal is already posting workout videos. Rest assured the boys are hungry for more in 2025.
