Friday Open Thread: What improvements do you hope to see in Spring Training?

Bless You Boys

It won’t be long before we start seeing games played in Spring Training, and while the age-old phrase “Spring Training games don’t count” may be true in terms of standings and stats, it’s not entirely unimportant.

Spring Training is a time for managers to try out new techniques, like more aggressive baserunning, stealing drills, testing out players in new positions, and so much more. It’s a chance for a new group of players to learn to gel with the veterans, for rookies to prove if they’re ready for their cup of coffee, and for pitchers to play with new pitches they might have been practicing in the offseason.

So this week, let’s talk about what we’re hoping to see in those games and from our players new and old. Are you hoping someone is going to show improved plate discipline? Perhaps you want to see someone else be in the #bestshapeoftheirlife. Maybe you’re hoping Hinch is going to try more bold approaches with the pitching rotation after having to get crafty at the end of last season. Or maybe you’re just curious to see the ABS get a spin with the major leaguers.

Let’s chat about what (and who) you want to see take on new challenges or improve on old issues.
