It’s not a bad time to be a Meadows.
Austin Meadows, 26, was the last player to be added to the Detroit Tigers’ roster this spring, when GM Al Avila pulled off a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays for the power-hitting outfielder.
Now, his younger brother, Parker, who has been in the organization since he was drafted in the 2nd round (44th overall) in 2018 is coming off the best week of his young professional career.

Parker was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for April 11-17 after going 8-for-27 with two home runs, four doubles and three RBIs in six games for the Detroit Tigers’ High-A affiliate West Michigan Whitecaps.
On the season, the younger Meadows is hitting a career-best .268 with a .318 OBP and 1.025 OPS across nine games.
Parker, rated the No. 20 overall prospect in Detroit’s organization according to MLB.com, has a career .226 average, .303 OBP and .655 OPS, leading the Whitecaps with four home runs and 11 hits.
His older brother, Austin, is off to a red-hot start for the Tigers. Austin is 10-for-24 this season (that’s good for sixth in all of baseball with a .417 batting average) and is 17th in the league with a 1.017 OPS.
Austin has multiple hits in four of the seven games he’s played in and has reached base safely in each contest.
Austin will have a front-row seat this week as Miguel Cabrera looks to get the 3,000th hit of his career during the up-coming home stand against the New York Yankees and Colorado Rockies. Cabrera currently sits at 2,995 hits.
