Series Preview: Detroit Tigers at Toronto Blue Jays to open second half of season

Bless You Boys

The Detroit Tigers return to action this weekend on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays now that the 2024 All-Star Break is in the rearview mirror. AJ Hinch’s squad caught fire in the final days before the midsummer classic and the Motor City Kitties are looking to keep that momentum going.

The Jays enter the three-game series in the cellar of the American League East, sitting 14 games behind the first-place Baltimore Orioles and 9.5 games out of the final wild-card spot. Meanwhile, the Tigers are fourth in the AL Central with 12 games separating them from the top-ranked Cleveland Guardians and seven games out of the wild card race.

Below is a brief preview of what is in store for this weekend between Detroit and Toronto. Note that MLB Probable Pitchers only had Friday’s away team starter while all three of the home team’s hurlers were announced; also note Friday’s game will be broadcast on AppleTV+.

Series Outlook: Get back on the ball

I will be short and sweet here — the Tigers entered the ASB one of the hottest teams in the majors, beating a pair of division leaders in two straight series. Can they come out firing on Friday night and rekindle the momentum? That’s what everyone wearing the Olde English D is hoping for this weekend.
