It’s been a tumultuous five years for Alex Faedo, but he’s finally in the big leagues. Detroit Tigers’ pitching prospect Alex Faedo finally made his major league debut Wednesday night. The 2017 first-round pick pitched five innings, gave up two earned runs, eight hits, one walk and one strikeout. Nothing spectacular, but he gave the…

Typically when we go into Behind Enemy Lines were talking one-on-one with a contributor from another team site, or a beat writer like Alex Stumpf earlier this week. However, in this next installment, things are a little different. We reached out to The Crawfish Boxes, the SB Nation Astros site, and they decided to make
One of the tougher stretches of games on the schedule has arrived at exactly the wrong time. With three of their Opening Day starters already on the injured list, and a disastrous power outage from the offense, the 2022 Tigers are dangerously close to fumbling away even an outside shot at a playoff spot before
Tigers’ inconsistencies shine through in doubleheader split. The Detroit Tigers split a doubleheader with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday at Comerica Park. There were some positives to take away from this twin bill, but there are still quite a few negatives. Here are three observations from Wednesday’s action:
The Tigers bullpen couldn’t bail out their punchless offense in this one. Alex Faedo did fine in his major league debut, but the offense was once again a study in futility and the bullpen fell apart late to put this one out of reach as the Pirates went on to win 7-2, splitting the doubleheader.
Once again, the Tigers got pretty good work from their bullpen, while struggling at the plate. Still, the offense took advantage of some Pirates mistakes, they played good defense, and ultimately the Tigers took Game 1 by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park. Michael Pineda got the start, and he had

Gage Workman has been quietly making a name for himself under the shadow of Spencer Torkelson. From 2018-2020, all the focus for the Arizona State University baseball team was on first baseman Spencer Torkelson, and rightfully so. He broke the freshman home run record for the program and was poised to be the No. 1…
You know the drill, the Tigers bats, rough start, blah, blah, blah, need a win. Enough. Let’s talk about the rookie on the mound in game two of Wednesday’s doubleheader with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Mr. Alex Faedo. Drafted with the 18th overall pick in the 2017 draft, the 26-year-old was part of the “big four”
Prior to the start of Spring Training, the Detroit Tigers were riding high with optimism. Notable additions like Javier Baez and Eduardo Rodriguez, along with rookie phenoms Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene, gave Tigers’ fans reason to think playoff contention was a realistic expectation in 2022.
There aren’t a lot of certainties in life, but there are some: death, taxes, an annual series between the Tigers and the Pirates. With it being that time of year again, we decided it was time to talk to an expert about the biggest and most important Pirates questions out there, namely: why don’t they
For the second time in two weeks the Detroit Tigers are enlisting the help of a top pitching prospect. Team officials probably didn’t envision things happening this way, with Beau Brieske making his MLB debut after just 137 minor-league innings, and Alex Faedo called into duty after four rehab outings — only one of which…
Toledo Mud Hens vs. Worchester Red Sox (postponed) It was a rainy Tuesday in the Midwest, and the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburg Pirates were far from the only teams affected. Toledo was supposed to welcome in the Worchester Red Sox as well, but they’ll play a doubleheader on Thursday now instead. Wednesday’s matchup features LHP
April has come and gone without the Detroit Tigers winning a single complete series. They went 2-1 against the Kansas City Royals but the final game of that four-game set was postponed until July. This is probably not too much of a surprise, but does put a little damper on those hopeful for a surprise
For the first time in what seems like an eternity, the Detroit Tigers might have a good bullpen. Tigers’ relievers have an ERA of 1.97 per MLB.com, which leads all of baseball. But the problem is that everything else has been mediocre at best.
On May 7, 2021, the Detroit Tigers dropped a contest with the Minnesota Twins at Comerica Park by a final of 7-3, putting the club’s record at 9-24 on the season. It’s the record that most recite as it pertains to the 2021 club; considering they played so well following their early-season scuffles.
With MLB active rosters dropping to 26 players on Monday, the Tigers had two cuts to make. One decision was ultimately made for them, as they placed left-hander Tyler Alexander on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 30, with a left elbow sprain. That left just one move to make, and rather than Willi
After opening the season in April with 28-man rosters to alleviate the strain caused by the lockout and late start, teams will have to cut back to the usual 26 players on Monday. Considering how poorly the Detroit Tigers have started, one would think they’d easily have a few players to jettison. However, the decisions
The Tigers have not gotten off to the start that many anticipated, but there’s still time to turn it around. Beating the Dodgers late Saturday night behind a solid outing from rookie Beau Brieske was just what the doctor ordered to stop a six-game losing streak, but would it also be the start of a
