PITTSBURGH — Michael Lorenzen’s breakout season will continue in a new home. The Tigers are trading the All-Star right-hander to the Phillies ahead of Tuesday’s 6 p.m. ET Trade Deadline in exchange for infield prospect Hao-Yu Lee, Philadelphia’s No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, a source told MLB.com. The clubs have not confirmed the deal.
The Diamondbacks are among the clubs that have contacted the Tigers regarding Michael Lorenzen, reports Jon Morosi of MLB.com (Twitter link). The Orioles, Astros, Marlins and Rays have all previously been linked to the Detroit righty — although Tampa Bay has since acquired Aaron Civale to fill their rotation. Lorenzen is very likely to land somewhere else

An hour later, he finally learned his fate. The Tigers traded Lorenzen to the Philadelphia Phillies for 20-year-old infield prospect Hao-Yu Lee, a source confirmed to The

With less than seven hours to go until the trade deadline, the Tigers hold a pair of key starting pitcher cards in southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez and righty Michael Lorenzen. Yesterday morning, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale said the pair would “definitely” be traded, and this morning MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand said the Tigers are “expected to trade”
The countdown is underway. As of Monday afternoon, the Detroit Tigers are maintaining their high asking prices for left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez and right-hander Michael Lorenzen leading up to Tuesday’s 6 p.m. trade deadline, according to multiple industry sources. The asking price for Rodriguez, despite his opt-out clause and 10-team no-trade clause, is believed to be
Detroit — It’s not a question of if the Tigers are going to trade starting pitchers Michael Lorenzen and Eduardo Rodriguez. It never was. The question is how long Tigers president Scott Harris holds out for the best deal before cashing his chips. It could happen two minutes after this story gets posted on the

If they do nothing more, the San Diego Padres at least know their legacy will be ruining the 2023 trade deadline. “I don’t think I’m going anywhere,” lefty Blake Snell said Sunday, and he’s probably right. Snell’s five innings of nearly flawless pitching helped San Diego complete a sweep of the Texas Rangers, who have
Y’know, there was a time, not so long ago, that the Detroit Tigers were buyers at the trade deadline, rather than sellers. Oh, for those hazy, crazy days of 2010-13, when the Tigers spun … well, we wouldn’t call them blockbusters, mostly — Jhonny Peralta (2010), Doug Fister (2011), Aníbal Sánchez (2012) and José Iglesias

It didn’t take long for Jace Jung to adjust to Double-A baseball. After going 0-for-3 and being hit by a pitch during his first game July 25 with the SeaWolves, Jung has caught fire at the plate. “It has been an adjustment for sure and I think I’m handling it well,” Jung said. “I’m just
In his second at-bat as a professional baseball player, Saturday, on the back fields at TigerTown in Lakeland, Florida, Max Clark ripped a two-run triple for the Tigers in a Florida Complex League game against the Yankees. Nice debut for an 18-year-old center fielder the Tigers grabbed first (No. 3 overall) in last month’s MLB
Jace Jung is making this Double-A thing look easy. The Tigers’ No. 2 prospect has only been at the level less than a week, but he’s been flexing his power ever since arriving at Detroit’s Double-A affiliate Erie on July 25. The latest example came Sunday, when Jung belted two homers in the SeaWolves’ 7-1 victory
There were three home runs West Michigan’s fans would have preferred not being on Jackson Jobe’s first-game record at high-Single A West Michigan. But given that Jobe allowed only four hits in five innings Saturday night at LMCU Ballpark, and considering he struck out nine while walking not a single batter, no one seemed overly
Detroit — Forty percent of the Tigers’ starting rotation is expected to be gone by Tuesday’s trade deadline. By baseball-rebuilding measures, it’s the right thing to do, dealing Michael Lorenzen and Eduardo Rodriguez. And maybe others. The buy-sell debate ended a couple of weeks ago, and the reckoning is here. This is Scott Harris’ unofficial
